We are saddened to announce the passing of Brother Dr. J. Calvin Mc Cray, Ph. D, a 50-Year Brother, a Robert L. Gordon Awardee and former member of the Southfield Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. He entered Chapter Invisible on Sunday, July 31, 2022. He lived in Southfield, MI and was 98 years old. Brother Mc Cray was initiated at the Beta Chapter (University of Illinois) of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity in 1948.Please keep Silhouette Vivian Mc Cray and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this season of bereavement. We know that God will provide comfort for the family. We ask that his Kappa Brothers provide support. Brother Mc Cray funeral arrangements will be announced later.
The Legendary Kappa man of Educational Excellence Dr. J. Calvin Mc Cray, Ph. D, taught, touted, promoted and shared qualitative life with all he met for 98 years from April 7, 1924 – July 31, 2022. He loved Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He spent quality time instructing and inspiring his students in Indiana and at Michigan State University.
He was a big promoter of visiting the Continent of Africa (54 countries) and taking many budding historians on educational tours and sightseeing. Brother Mc Cray spent time in friendship with several of the Founders of our grand fraternity.
